A welcome from the PAVILION to tribute to Jimmy Logan OBE
The following page is dedicated to
the memory of Jimmy Logan OBE, who sadly passed away earlier
this year (2001). Jimmy has been a great friend of the theatre
and staff over the past years and his death is a great loss as he has
certainly been one of the Great Legends of Scottish Theatre.
The Pavilion Theatre is both privileged and glad that in the last few months of his life we were able to play real tribute to him by hosting a very special Charity Gala night 'A Celebration for Jimmy Logan'. The night itself played host to a magnificent turn out of Scottish stars of the Music and Variety Hall all of whom offered their services as a nod to Jimmy. Jimmy himself appeared on stage at the end of the night in what was to be his last public performance, itself a moving trip down memory lane for the performer and his family, 3 members of whom had flown in from the USA to be with him on this very special night. Jimmy's fight against Cancer was a determined one, the night at the theatre raised a fantastic amount, through which Jimmy was determined to raise enough revenue to produce a Cancer Caring video for sufferers and family alike. The video, entitled 'You Are Not Alone' was Jimmy's way of offering a helping hand through the puzzles that Cancer sufferers encounter, unfortunately Jimmy passed away before this vision could be put into proper fruition, however he left behind a wonderful legacy and raised both awareness of and a fantastic amount for The Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre Charity. Here's to you Jimmy - keep right on to the end of the road. It was a great pleasure working with and knowing you. Iain Gordon General Manager
