Pavilion Presented....
DOON AT THE BUROO

From Russel Lane, the writer of 'Please Stay' and 'Their Cheatin' Hearts', the Pavilion Theatre presented his latest play

'Doon At The Buroo'

Laughs were on a roll in this story of life and love on the dole!

When two newly redundant shipyard workers meet two equally jobless women from a Govan clothing factory in the local pub the action came  fast and furious in this fun-filled fiddle of all fiddles.

It's was a Giro full of gags as these reluctant job-seekers made no allowance for taking "little jobs on the side" while signing on.

They thought  they were streets ahead of the "system" ... but there was  a 'Snooper Squad' around every corner!

"A fantastic show, best laugh for ages, is Nicola Park any relation to Dean?

Hope it comes back soon"

"Most enjoyable. Unfortunately we were unable to tell who all the cast were because there were no programmes left to buy on our visit to the matinee on Saturday 5th April. Typical Glasgow humour which we can all relate to."

"What a show!!! We have to say Doon at the Buroo was by far the funniest show we've ever seen at the Pavillion and we've been to loads.

Gary Hollywood was looking as gorgeous as ever and keeping us (and as normal - himself!) in stitches - its his trade mark dance moves (which he probably doesn't realise he has), coupled with that awful shirt and suit, that did it for us! Nicola Park did an absolutely fab job too, we've seen her in panto before but never realised how good a singer and entertainer she is, it was so funny watching her trying to get her 'leg over' the policeman and walk about in those platform boots - don't know how she managed that!

But we must say that the whole cast were great and we hope that Doon at the Buroo will be making a comeback later in the year so we can come again! So - well done to the Pavillion, the Writers and the Cast - Best show yet!!! (Hope there's a Sequel)! P.S:- Gary - your fans are still waiting on your website - look forward to finding it online soon!!!!"

"Nicola Park is a great entertainer. She should have more singing parts! She sounds as if she's got a really good singing voice and she's really funny. Hope to see more of her in the near future!"

"Give the Take the High Road Gang a full time booking and of course not forgetting Nicola.

I don't know who should get the most credits, but what a team of Players! And not forgetting the writer, a great combination, and I look forward to the next venture!

Seen then all! The Biggot, Happy Landings etc...  Keep up the Glesga Humour,

I'll be back!"

"I just want to say that Nikki (Nicola Park) is a star and as for Gary Hollywood ,well! Any normal people from Glasgow will agree he is gorgeous!"

"I left Glasgow over 30 years ago. As an ex-pat I was looking forward to seeing some of the good old Glasgow humour.

What a disappointment, I cringed with embarrassment for the actors! It portrayed Glaswegians as thick and ignorant. It was so amateur. I've seen better shows and acting at primary school plays and heard better patter in any Glasgow pub. Lex MacLean would turn in his grave.

I couldn't understand what some of the audience found funny and were laughing at! I can only surmise that these people don't get out very often.

It was once said that if a performer was accepted by a Glasgow audience, then they had made it, not so any longer I'm afraid!

The only good parts were when they were singing, they had excellent voices and should have stuck to that! One woman on the opposite aisle from us shouted out half way through that she wanted her money back...I couldn't have agreed with her more."

"This show was FANTASTIC!! I loved the humour, singing, characters actually just about everything.

What made it more special is being an ex employer of Kvaerner formerly John Brown Engineering, it made me realise just how much I miss those shop floor boys!!"

"I think Nicola Park is a genius. She should have her own show on the BBC- the new Parky!"
