Rescheduled Show Notification
The Cheviot, The Stag & The Black, Black Oil
We are sorry to have to inform you that due to venues temporarily closing, per the government’s latest advice on the Coronavirus situation, The National Theatre of Scotland’s production of The Cheviot, The Stag & The Black, Black Oil has been rescheduled. The new dates for this will be, one week only, from Wednesday 9th to Saturday 12th September 2020.
Due to the complexity of allocating a two-week run of shows into one week and in the interest of fairness, we have decided to refund all customer bookings for the original dates.
Original tickets will not be valid, therefore can we ask you to rebook for these new dates? Tickets will be on sale online from Friday 3rd April at 10am, available to you as a priority customer for 2 weeks.
Wednesday 9th September @ 7:30pm
Thursday 10th September @ 7:30pm
Friday 11th September @ 7:30pm
Saturday 12th September @ 2pm
Saturday 12th September @ 7:30pm
We hope that this will avoid any confusion when attending the new dates. Due to box office restrictions we have at the present time, limited Royal Mail service and in the interest of safety, we would not post out any tickets booked at this time until it is safe to do so.
If you purchased your tickets by card online or via telephone, then we will process this refund directly onto the card you used for the original purchase and there is no need to contact us. Refunds will take up to 5 working days to appear in your account. If you paid at the theatre in person via cash or card, our box office staff will contact you to arrange a suitable refund.
Unfortunately, as we are working remotely, we cannot process cash refunds and can only offer, for original cash customers, a refund by cheque, bank transfer or direct refund onto a credit or debit card. Our staff are now working remotely to protect their own health and that of colleagues and customers. The theatre is no longer open to the public, but you can contact them on 0141 332 1846 (selecting option 1, 2 or 3), with opening hours of 10am till 3pm, Monday to Friday.
We apologise for any upset or disappointment this will cause. We hope that you can join us for a great night out on these new dates and stay safe during this time.
Yours sincerely,

National Theatre of Scotland in association with Dundee Rep Theatre and Live Theatre, Newcastle presents
The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil
Based on the original production by Dundee Rep Theatre
Written by John McGrath
Directed by Joe Douglas
A ceilidh through Scotland’s past – and present
This legendary piece of Scottish theatre tells the story of the exploitation of Scottish lands, waters and people over the centuries.
From the highland clearances to the oil boom, this is the universal tale of how the greed of a few blights the lives of many. Add a generous dose of Scottish rebellion and irreverence. Throw in some live music and a riotous ceilidh – you’ve got yourself a rollicking great night out.
Back by popular demand following the completely sold out tour in 2019.
Come and experience the ‘Story that has a beginning, a middle but, as yet, no end…’
