Audience’s can relive the spirit of the Forties in a wonderful evening of Hits from the Blitz, with lots of singalong tunes that will bring back warm memories. The celebration show pay’s tribute to the legendary stars of the war years, Vera Lynn, Donald Peers, Gracie Fields, George Formby, Bing Crosby, and famous comedians, Robb Wilton, Max Miller, and Tessie O’Shea. The show is set in a wartime Garrison Theatre with the ENSA artistes.
Singer MERVYN FRANCIS hosts the programme and introduces a superb cast of entertainers including Comedian STEVE BARCLAY. This very funny comedian a Don Estelle look alike "It A’int Half Hot Mum, brings hilarious comedy routines and Songs to the programme and is supported by Britain’s Greatest exponent of the Ukelele ANDY EASTWOOD. Starting out as child musician on Violin, And gradually moved over to the "UKE", Andy was the first person to take a music degree at Oxford on this instrument. When not appearing in We’ll Meet Again, Andy is a supporting act for Ken Dodd on his Theatre tours. A new leading lady joins the show for its spring tour JULIA BURNETT with her songs of Gracie and Vera. And a talented comedy actress. Multi instrumentalist PETE LINDUP features all the brass instruments and recalls the Big Band era with Glenn Miller favourites. With smooth singing TONY LEYTON at the helm, all the blitz vocal memories are tastefully portrayed.
This special MATINEE show promises not only to evoke the spirit of Wartime Britain, but to experience the music and laughter that kept Britain smiling through her darkest days..
